Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach Fall 2026 – Department of Athletics, California State University, Fullerton. Position Overview Reports directly to the Head Basketball Coach; assists the men's basketball program, a highly competitive NCAA Division I Big West Conference program, with coaching responsibilities and additional duties outlined below. Assist with coaching, recruiting Division I quality student‑athletes, and monitoring academic progress. Contribute to the annual offensive and defensive philosophy implementation plan. Ensure compliance with NCAA, university, and Big West rules and regulations. Scout and conduct statistical analysis of recruits and opponents. Collaborate with the Strength & Conditioning Coach on year‑round training and conditioning. Assist with travel coordination, scheduling, and practice planning. Participate in marketing and public appearances to promote men’s basketball on campus and in the community. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Three years of Division I collegiate basketball coaching experience, or four years playing at the Division I level plus five years coaching at the high school, club, or non‑Division I NCAA level (or equivalent). Proven ability to recruit highly skilled student‑athletes and commitment to their academic progress. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations. Ability to interact successfully with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and colleagues. Demonstrated competitive on‑court coaching ability. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NCAA Division I basketball coaching and knowledge of scouting and video editing software systems. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $6,538 to $11,642 per month (12 monthly payments); anticipated range $6,538 to $8,751 per month. 12‑month, full‑time position classified as a Coaching Specialist in the faculty bargaining unit.
