Special Education Paraprofessional:
Location: San Francisco, California
Pay Rate: $20–$25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Full-Time New School Year and Part-time Summer Opportunities Available
Are you passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs? We are hiring dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessionals to work with students across a variety of school settings in San Francisco for Extended School Year (ESY) and the 2026–2027 school year.
Position Overview
Special Education Paraprofessionals provide essential classroom support to students with academic, behavioral, communication, and medical needs. Candidates must be flexible and willing to assist with a wide range of student support duties.
Responsibilities:
Support students in classroom and community-based settings
Assist with toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal care
Provide behavioral support for students with autism and significant needs
Help students with speech, communication, and social-emotional development
Support students with medical needs such as G-tube feeding, seizure monitoring, and mobility assistance (training provided as needed)
Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other school staff
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Associate degree or higher
Completion of at least 48 college units
Passing score on the CBEST
Passing score on the California Instructional Aide Exam
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience and certifications are highly valued:
CPR and First Aid Certification
Experience working with students with autism or severe behavioral needs
Experience with medical support, including G-tube feeding and seizure protocols
American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency
Braille or visual impairment experience
California LVN license
Schedule Information
Extended School Year (ESY)
Summer assignments run from mid-June through mid-July 2026, depending on program placement.
2026–2027 School Year
Full-time opportunities are available for the upcoming school year, with placements determined based on program needs.
