Job Description

Michael Coleman Creative Services is a boutique Chicago-based creative agency creating brand-driven marketing for some of the most exciting names in hospitality. From hotel collateral to healthcare campaigns, we have a diverse client roster, and bring stories to life through beautifully crafted print, digital, and social creative that helps our clients stand out.

This internship is an exciting opportunity for an emerging designer to gain real agency experience, build an impressive portfolio, and contribute to meaningful client work from day one. You’ll collaborate closely with Senior Designers, Art Directors, Operations, and occasionally company leadership, learning how great creative moves from concept to execution in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

We’re looking for someone who is curious, enthusiastic, and excited to grow with us, with the potential for this internship to transition into a full-time Junior Graphic Designer role for the right candidate.

Team & Operations

  • Learn the fundamentals of working as a designer within a small, fast-paced creative agency 
  • Participate in daily virtual stand-ups with Senior Designers, Art Directors, and Operations, with occasional exposure to the founder/CEO 
  • Maintain strong file organization, time tracking, and project management practices
  • Submit all design drafts and revisions to Art Director for feedback and approval

Hands-On Creative

  • Assist the creative team in producing high-quality marketing collateral in Adobe Creative Cloud, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and agency design standards
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail by carefully checking spelling, typography, spacing, alignment, image quality, copy placement and file specs across every deliverable before review
  • Execute client-requested revisions to print and digital collateral related to copy, images, design elements and/or layout changes 
  • Elevate client-provided materials by applying updated brand standards, typography, color, and design elements
  • Adapt campaign creative across various formats (banner ads, animated graphics, brochures, flyers, print ads, etc.) aligned with approved creative direction
  • Contribute to the development of internal sales collateral, including digital brochures, one-pagers, and social media content

Qualifications

  • Portfolio link required
  • Degree in Graphic Design or comparable
  • Previous internship, freelance, or entry-level design experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Basic understanding of file setup and export requirements for both print and digital deliverables
  • Attention to detail, organization, and ability to follow brand guidelines
  • Strong communication and ability to take feedback
  • Time management / ability to handle multiple projects

Position Details

  • Title: Graphic Design Intern
  • Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
  • Duration: Summer (Preferred start date in May)
  • Hybrid: In downtown office 2x per week / remote 3x per week
  • Pay: Salary equivalent of $45,000 / year
