Head Esports Coach The Head Esports Coach is responsible for the coaching, organization, and administration of all operations associated with the varsity Esports program with the competitive Eastern College Athletic Conference. The Coach is responsible for the daily operations and administrative oversight of the Esports Room and program in support of all student activities and programming related to Esports, including personnel, risk management, team practices and competitive activities. Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of a competitive varsity eSports program, including practice planning, game preparation, scouting, in‑game coaching, budgeting, and scheduling. Develop an outreach and recruitment plan for prospective Esports athletes; implement and retain qualified, competitive student athletes. Assist with managing and maintaining all hardware, software, and other equipment and oversee the operation of the Esports room. Provide engagement opportunities for gaming and utilization of the facility through partnerships with academic programs, clubs, recreational programs, informal student involvement, and spectators. Develop and publish team rules regarding practice, class attendance, punctuality, dress code and general standards of behavior; enforce such rules with appropriate disciplinary actions. Assist with monitoring academic progress and eligibility of student‑athletes in accordance with applicable bylaws and university standards. Arrange competitive event schedules in conjunction with the assigned administrator. Compile data and reports to meet Departmental and University requirements. Oversee conditioning and training of team members to ensure physical preparedness for competition. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s preferred. 1–3 years of successful coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level; head coaching experience highly preferred. Experience with multiplayer online video games with team‑based elements; expert knowledge of Rainbow 6, Fortnite, Valorant, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Smash Bros or similar games.
