Job Summary This position is a temporary seasonal assistant coach for the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Esports program. The role involves coaching, training, and coordinating student-athletes during the Fall season, with complete administrative support, and will be paid a stipend of $1,070.00 at the end of the season. Essential Responsibilities Demonstrate thorough knowledge of esports, coaching rules, and gameplay. Translate knowledge to athletes, evaluating performance and progress while focusing on development beyond winning. Organize and supervise safe, efficient practices and competitions, effectively utilizing coaching staff. Conduct oneself ethically, presenting as a positive role model for athletes, displaying encouraging conduct and a positive attitude. Develop team concepts within Kamehameha Schools’ values-driven framework, promoting sportsmanship, respect for rules, and balanced skill development. Assist athletes to reach their full potential in an enjoyable, supportive environment. Handle administrative duties such as disciplinary resolution, eligibility checks, record keeping, timesheets, human‑resources requirements, equipment use, and budgeting; assist with inventory and locker room management. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, other coaches, and the community, delivering timely results to the school and media, and promoting the program locally and statewide. Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year of coaching experience. NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification (or equivalent). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, coaches, and staff. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications High school or collegiate athletic participation. High school or collegiate coaching experience. Sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values. Physical Requirements Physical activity such as walking, standing, running, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting, and carrying. Working Conditions May involve traveling to various locations, including neighboring islands. Work conducted in an office/school environment and may require non‑standard workplaces. Primary schedule is Monday‑Friday during normal business hours; evening and weekend hours are often required.
